Zeus Of Swains TOG 13Z
|
Zeus Of Swains TOG 13Z
Zeus is structurally very correct, in fact Scottish judge Ian Anderson stated to Hamish Wilson, UK Highlander
Cattle Secretary, "Zeus is the most structurally correct bull he had ever seen". Zeus is a true breeder's bull
in that he can be used on a variety of body styles and stamps a similar look on al his progeny.
His show record is truly outstanding:
- 1991 Reserve Grand Champion bull NEHCA
- 1992 Reserve Grand Champion bull NEHCA
- 1992 Grand Champion bull Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, Toronto, Canada
- 1994 Reserve Grand Champion bull NWSS, Denver, Colorado
- 1995 Grand Champion bull NWSS, Denver, Colorado
Zeus has also produced many champions
- Reserve Grand Champion female NWSS, Anastasia of Mapleview
- Reserve Grand Champion bull NWSS, Simba of Mapleview
- Grand Champion female NWSS, Kizzie of Mapleview (ET)
- Senior Champion female NWSS, Zeusa of Mapleview
- Highland Roll Call of Excellence, DH Artemis (ET)
- Mature size: 1925 lbs - 875 kg
- SCM 40 cm
- Frame score 4
Recommendations:
Use Zeus to add structural soundness, particularly top line, breed character, smaller shorter heads
and uniformity in females to be retained in the herd.

Philip of Hi-Arrow (AI)
|
Philip of Hi-Arrow (AI)
One of our long term goals was to introduce a quality black bull to our sire battery. We were
immediately impressed with Philip's structural soundness, breed character, and unparalleled pedigree.
Phillip is the grandson of one of the six black Cailaich females imported into Canada by Fr. MacDonald
and ultimately exported back to Scotland. Philip's progeny to date are impressive. Philip's sires
the famous Philip of Strathallan, a multi-champion in Great Britain. Philip of Strathallan's semen
has never been available in the U.S. Philip 1st of Hi-Arrow has sired the highest placing steers
in the Australian National Carcass competition with a 5th and 9th place finish.
Philip has sired champions in the U.S. and Australia. In 2000 at the NWSS the bull calf champion was:
- Millennium of Maple Hill
- Mature weight: 2024 lbs - 920 kg
- Scrotal Circumference: 41 cm
- Frame Score: 4.5
Recommendations:
- Introduce a totally new bloodline
- Add both length and black color
- Proven record of siring animals of high carcass quality
- Good feet and short heads

DuBoise Le Coq (The Rooster)
In our continuing efforts to not only follow up with another "quality" black bull, we were compelled to add
a bull that had a sound performance record. "The Rooster" tied for top honors in the official Quebec Highland
Bull test in 2002. This was especially noteworthy because he was only 10 1/2 months old at the conclusion of
the test. We were also attempting to make credible gains in the rear end conformation, increasing the depth
of heal and to straighten the hock angle. We are naturally excited that he is also promising to be a bull
that can be used in the herd and with little or no finish can be competitive in the show ring. Observers
are somewhat surprised that "The Rooster" is as solid as a rock and has never exhibited fleshy waste patches
in the tail--head area.
"The Rooster's" semen has been approved for importation into the U.K.
2003 Intermediate Champion at the NWSS, Denver, Colorado
His offspring are already proving themselves in the show ring.
- Weight at 30 months: 1850 lbs - 841 kg
- Weight at 36 months: 2070 lbs - 941 kg
- Scrotal Circumference: 43 cm
- Frame Score: 4.5
Recommendations:
- Will contribute early maturity
- Change angle of hock and depth of heal
- Carcass quality
- Good feet and short heads
